The systematic study examines the connections between video games, hate speech, violence, and discrimination. A thorough search of the Scopus and Web of Science databases turned up 47 pertinent papers that were published between 2018 and 2023. The review explores video games’ potential as teaching aids as well as how they may serve as a breeding ground for online hate speech, violence, and prejudice. Important research indicates that playing violent video games might make people more aggressive in their thoughts and actions, especially when playing competitively. On the other hand, prosocial elements of gaming could lessen bias and encourage favorable intergroup sentiments. Discriminatory practices and hate speech are still common problems in online gaming communities, disproportionately impacting marginalized communities. The paper emphasizes how player experiences and behaviors are shaped by intricate relationships among individual traits, game content, and sociocultural surroundings. Even though video games can be dangerous, if they are made well, they can also be a great way to develop empathy, cultural awareness, and critical thinking. https://www.cogitatiopress.com/socialinclusion/article/view/9401 Share this: Print (Opens in new window) Print Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Like this:Like Loading...
