Creating frameworks that do not jeopardize user safety or compromise the diversity of information is a fundamental problem for media economics in the digital era. Freedom of thought and expression must be preserved, but hate speech, false information, and sensationalism must not take control. Researchers investigate a variety of strategies to improve digital media security. Promising tactics include counter-speech, content control, changes in economic arrangements, and educational programs.
