At this time, Ireland lacks any laws specifically addressing hate crimes. The Prohibition of Incitement to Hatred Act 1989 is the sole law in Ireland that addresses offenses motivated by hatred. Despite the fact that hate speech is illegal, relatively few people have been prosecuted for it since it was first introduced. A major step toward new criminal laws to address hate crimes and incitement to hatred is this survey. It required paying close attention to all sides of the conversation. Numerous participants have experienced victimization personally.
