Global communication has been easier because to media technological advancements, which has led to a broad acceptance of new media platforms. Concern over hate speech online has also increased as a result of this rise, sparking interest from researchers. Using the SALSA framework (Search, Appraisal, Synthesis, and Analysis), the current systematic review analyzes 50 studies and divides hate speech on social media into four categories: general, religious, gendered, and racist hate. Results show that the rising incidence of hate speech and online harassment, particularly directed at gender and religion, is mostly caused by anonymity and a lack of control. To gain a deeper understanding of these dynamics, researchers stress the need of examining user behavior and shared material on social media sites. New directions for further study in this developing topic are also identified in the review. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/354545789_Hate_Speech_and_social_media_A_Systematic_Review Share this: Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Like this:Like Loading...
