Once written off as internet poison, misogynistic extremism has grown into a global phenomenon with tangible repercussions. Anti-women language is normalized and amplified by radical online communities and algorithm-driven platforms, which in turn fuel harassment and violence. Digital hate turns into physical violence, as demonstrated by case studies from Toronto, Sydney, and other Western cities. Online echo chambers, algorithmic amplification, and institutional neglect are the ways in which the movement spreads. Both outside and online, women are increasingly threatened, with consequences for society that extend to public health, safety, and the economy. In order to destroy this harmful mindset, the current paper urges identifying sexism as a national security concern, making tech companies responsible, funding prevention, and raising public awareness. https://vocal.media/criminal/misogynistic-extremism-how-online-hate-is-fueling-real-world-violence-against-women Share this: Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Like this:Like Loading...
