“Hate speech” is defined as speech that is harmful in a discriminating manner. In the context of its occurrence, it is aimed at people or groups that are vulnerable to the negative effects of marginalization. It may be founded on gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other recognized social groupings. It affects people of all ages, including—and this is concerning—young social media users, and has been more common since COVID-19. The webinar examined hate speech’s characteristics, ramifications, and impacts while also discussing potential strategies for individuals, social groups, and professional associations to deal with it.
