Under the context of the United Nations Strategy and Plan of Action against Hate Speech, which was introduced by the UN Secretary-General in 2019, UNESCO collaborates with a wide range of partners to confront and combat hate speech. UNESCO highlights the need of combating hate speech from a human rights perspective, which includes defending the right to free speech. A potent weapon against hate speech, misinformation, and disinformation is education. UNESCO assists nations in creating laws and policies that protect international human rights, as well as supporting regulators and judicial officials. Hate speech on social media spreads at a never-before-seen rate. By teaching students digital citizenship skills, UNESCO aims to combat online hate speech and help people of all ages use the internet sensibly and safely. https://www.unesco.org/en/countering-hate-speech/need-know Share this: Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Like this:Like Loading...
